 I currently live in Mapleton, UT, with my husband, and I love to travel. But with the pandemic and my lack of fortune, I'm resigned to make the most of the local scenery in Utah. I don't claim to be a Utah expert, and I'm not a Utah native either. I just want to share some places I've enjoyed with hope to help other Utahns—native and otherwise—look a little deeper at their communities and find things they love in their own backyard.

Y Though?

Anyone who has even visited Provo has probably been beaten to death with urges like "Hike the Y!" "The Y Trail is a rite of passage." "The Y Trail offers unbelievable views of Utah Valley." blah blah blah. Let me tell you a secret that anyone who has done any real hiking in Utah County knows: the Y Trail SUCKS. There is nothing redeeming about hiking the Y except getting to avoid people constantly telling you to do it. There is no shade. It's steep. It's crowded. It's ugly. It's rocky. It's HOT. A New Cone in Town

Let's start off with a treat we can all get behind. William's Dairy Bar is a fairly new addition to the foodie scene in Provo, but it's definitely a must-visit. Now I know what you're thinking—Provo has so many great ice cream spots already; what could William's Dairy Bar have to offer that places like Rockwell's or Roll With It don't have? Two words.  Soft serve.  I think we can all agree that soft serve just hits a little differently than regular ice cream—no matter how good it is. And William's Dairy Bar does soft serve better than any place I've been. Not only is the soft serve a good texture, but they also have a lot of flavors to choose from. On top of the regular chocolate and vanilla flavors, you have butter pecan, cotton candy, green apple, and a bunch of others, including a limited weekly flavor. Ramen: More Than JT's Hairstyle in the 90s

So Christmas is over, which means my enjoyment of winter is also coming to a close. I love snow, but I get tired of ugly, bitter cold with nothing good on the horizon (not to be too bleak). However, the good thing about winter that doesn't go away after the new year is getting to enjoy warm foods and beverages.  I'm a coco-lover and enjoy a good soup to warm up my constantly freezing fingers and toes after a day of doing absolutely nothing that should logically cause me to be so cold.  So if you're like me and need somewhere to warm up this winter, choose Tamashi Ramen in Orem. Ramen has definitely hit a boom in recent years, and Asa Ramen seems to be the top place to go to enjoy ramen. But having been to both restaurants, I'd say Tamashi Ramen is the place to go. There's just something about the flavor of the ramen that you don't get at Asa.
